In the digital-I-need-it-now age we live in today, it’s hard for an album to stay on the charts for a month, however, British folk-rock band, Mumford & Sons‘ debut, Sigh No More, is looking at three years. Certified double platinum in the U.S., the record has spawned the hit singles, “Little Lion Man”, and “The Cave”, both of which are constant mainstays on modern rock radio everywhere assisting in it’s charting success.
This fall, Mumford and Sons are set to release a yet to be titled follow up to Sigh No More. Although no date, title, or track listing has been released, Mumford & Sons posted a cryptic teaser video on their official site, leaving fans to believe the album will be called Babel. The clip can be seen below:
Mumford & Sons Tour 2012
This summer, the quartet comprised of Max Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall, and Ted Dwane actualized an idea of a mini music festival that would travel to towns that don’t often get the big musical acts. Thus, Mumford and Sons birthed The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers. The idea behind it is a full day of celebrating music, food, and the local flavor in each town. Hitting four U.S. cities: Eastern Promenade in Portland, Maine on 8/4, on State Street in Bristol, Virginia & Tennessee on 8/11, Page Park in Dixon, Illinois on 8/18, and Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California on 8/25, each stopover is already completely sold out. Mumford & Sons will be bringing along an rotating lineup of bands they personally chose; St. Vincent, Gogol Bordello, Grouplove, Justin Townes Earl, Dawes, JEFF The Brotherhood, The Very Best, Apache Relay, Simone Felice, Nathaniel Rateliff, Haim, The Maccabees, Slow Club, Abigail Washburn, and Two Gallants are the selected cast to hit the stages, varying at each stop.
If you can’t make it to any of the Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers, the 2012 Mumford and Sons US tour schedule has the band hitting the stage in ten other cities throughout the month of August. These additional dates begin on 8/1 in Hoboken, New Jersey at Pier A Park and end in Aspen, Colorado at the Jass Aspen Snowmass Festival on 9/1. The Mumford & Sons Tour 2012 also has a show scheduled at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on 8/28.
