Portugal. The Man is a psychedelic rock band from Wasilla, Alaska formed in 2005. The group’s current lineup is frontman John Gourley, Zach Carothers on bass, Kyle O'Quin on keyboard, Noah Gersh on guitar, and Kane Ritchotte on drums. While other bands might take two to three years between album releases, Portugal. The Man has churned out an album almost every year since their inception in 2005 (excluding Evil Friends, which took two years to finish). The result is an extensive discography that showcases the band’s ever-evolving sound and willingness to experiment with different styles. Their first two albums were released through Fearless Records, followed by four via indie label Equal Vision. Portugal. The Man signed with Atlantic Records in April 2010, and subsequently made their full-length debut on a major label in 2011 with the release of In The Mountain In The Cloud. The next album, Evil Friends, saw a first for the DIY-type band, collaborating with renowned producer, Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse.
