ZZ Ward is an American singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter currently located in Los Angeles, CA. Born Zsuzsanna Eva Ward, ZZ Ward started her music career at age 12 fronting her father's blues band. After moving to LA, she signed with Boardwalk Music Group. LA offered opportunities that her hometown of Roseberg, Oregon could not, such as the chance to work with Kendrick Lamar, Ryan Tedder of One Republic, and Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums, just to name a few.
She released her first EP, Criminal, followed by her full-length debut album Til the Casket Drops, both in 2012. The releases showcased her talent for blending blues, hip-hop, R&B, rock, and pop into one cohesive entity. The New York Times writes that her "energy evokes Tina Turner's, her chops Aretha Franklin's, and her soul Etta James'." Til the Casket Drops has garnered positive reviews, with several songs being featured on shows like ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars and MTV's Awkward.
